Case Description
In Vologda in February 2024, a criminal case was opened against a local 53-year-old resident, Olga Kozlova, for public calls for terrorism or its justification. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a comment in the FREEDOM Telegram channel, published on July 9, 2023. According to the investigation, under a publication about the planned next raids on the territory of Russia by the Ukrainian paramilitary association Legion "Freedom of Russia, the Vologda resident wrote a comment beginning with the abbreviation "LSR..." and ending with the word . ..bow, thereby justifying terrorism. Kozlova was detained and placed in a temporary detention center until a preventive measure was chosen. 22 February 2022, the court sent Kozlov under house arrest. On June 10, 2024, the 1st Western Military Court found Olga Kozlova guilty and sentenced her to a fine of 400 thousand. rubles. Taking into account the time Kozlova spent under house arrest, the court mitigated the punishment to 300 thousand. rubles. The court also deprived Kozlova of the right to administer websites and channels on the Internet for 2 years. On September 11, 2024, the Appellate Military Court upheld the verdict.
