Case Description
On May 25, 2023, in the village of Primorsky Posad near Tokmak in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, a 43-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen Olga Cherniavskaya, was abducted from the territory of the 'Eden' recreation base. For a long time nothing was known about her. According to the testimony of another Ukrainian citizen, Yulia Koveshnikova, they were together 'in the basement.' "Fifteen months later, on August 15, 2024, a criminal case was opened against Cherniavskaya for espionage. According to the Russian security forces' version, from February to December 2022, a Ukrainian woman, while on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia region, collected and transmitted via messenger to her son, who was serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, information about geolocations with highlighted areas of terrain on maps, displaying the locations of personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation stationed in the city of Tokmak. In the opinion of the investigation, the enemy could use this information to carry out fire strikes on the locations of Russian military personnel." On December 12, 2024, the Zaporizhzhia Regional Court found Olga Chernyavskaya guilty and sentenced her to 13 years in a general regime colony. On May 6, 2025, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction upheld the verdict.
