Case Description
In the Kursk region in October 2024, during combat operations, a 34-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a soldier of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleg Shveda, was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage (pp. a" and "b" ch. 2 years "205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the Russian investigation, on October 10, 2024, Shveda, armed with a foreign-made assault rifle, together with his comrades-in-arms, invaded the territory of the Russian Federation." Being in the village of Lyubimovka in the Korenevsky district, he "threatened with weapons and prevented the evacuation of the civilian population." On June 3, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court sentenced Shved to 15 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in a prison, and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
