In the Kursk region, no later than October 2024, during hostilities, a 48-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a soldier of the 17th separate tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleh Danylov, was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. ACCORDING TO THE VERSION OF THE RUSSIAN INVESTIGATION, ON OCTOBER 14, 2024, DANILOV, ARMED WITH AN AK-74 ASSAULT RIFLE AND GRENADES, TOGETHER WITH HIS FELLOW SERVICEMEN ILLEGALLY CROSSED THE STATE BORDER OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION IN THE AREA OF THE 'SUZHA' CHECKPOINT. He arrived in the village of Olgovka in the Korenevsky district, where he took up an observation and firing position in the building of an abandoned hospital. From there, he conducted surveillance, transmitted information about Russian military personnel, 'intimidated peaceful citizens, prohibited them from evacuating, and also participated in blocking and holding the territory.' August 4, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Oleg Danilov guilty and sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remaining part in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
