Case Description
In late June 2022, a search was conducted in St. Petersburg at the home of 54-year-old local resident Oleg Belousov." He was accused of spreading "fakes" about the Russian army motivated by political hatred and calls for extremism. According to the investigation, the Petersburg resident published a comment about Vladimir Putin on VKontakte: 'Putin is traitor number 1, who has plundered the country and is a war criminal. And who started these killings? Putin. Can Russian-speaking cities like Kharkiv and Mariupol be demolished? "2. This comment, as the investigation claims, calls for "the destruction of cities with Russian populations, contains "signs of incitement to violent actions against a group based on the national characteristic of 'Russians,'" and also accuses President Vladimir Putin of crimes. The investigation also believes that Belousov's recordings called for actions aimed at "violent change of the constitutional order of Russia and national enmity. On June 28, 2022, the Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg granted the prosecution's motion to detain Belousov." 5. On March 29, 2023, the Moskovsky District Court of St. Petersburg found Oleg Belousov guilty and sentenced him to 5 years and 6 months in a general regime colony. September 4, 2023, the St. Petersburg City Court upheld the sentence.
