Abdyukov Oleg Sergeevich (Abdyukov Oleg Sergiyovich)

In Mariupol, in the occupied part of Donetsk region, no later than April 2022, 26-year-old Ukrainian citizen Oleg Abdyukov, a serviceman of the Azov Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was taken prisoner by the Russian military. He was charged with the murder of two people committed by generally dangerous means, by an organized group, motivated by political and ideological hatred, as well as cruel treatment of the civilian population.

According to the Russian investigators, in March 2022, while at a combat position in Mariupol, Abdyukov fired a grenade launcher at a car driving along Kuprina Street with two civilians inside. The men died at the scene from their injuries.

On 18 December 2024, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found Oleg Abdyukov guilty and sentenced him to 24 years in a strict-regime penal colony.

On 13 March 2025, the First Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction upheld the sentence.

Later, a second criminal case was opened against Abdyukov — on participation in a terrorist community and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. The criminal prosecution was prompted by his service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the nationalist Azov battalion, which is designated as terrorist in Russia.

According to the Russian investigators, in October 2019 Abdyukov voluntarily joined the Azov Regiment, banned in Russia. After undergoing military training and receiving a weapon, he took part in combat operations against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

On 3 December 2025, the Southern District Military Court found Oleg Abdyukov guilty and sentenced him to 27 years in a strict-regime penal colony. The sentence was not appealed and entered into force.
