Case Description
27-year-old Nikolai Okhlopkov was detained in Yakutsk in June 2022. The man was accused of intending to join the "Legion "Freedom of Russia. A criminal case was opened against Nikolai under the article on "preparation for participation in an armed formation. It is unknown how Russian security forces managed to learn about the man's "intentions" to join a unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Judge Igor Verkhoturov of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Sakha sentenced Nikolai Okhlopkov to 4 years 6 months in a strict regime colony. On June 28, 2023, the verdict came into force.
