Case Description
In the Kursk region, no later than September 2024, during hostilities, Ukrainian citizens, soldiers of the 95th separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - 36-year-old Nikolai Milinevich and 29-year-old Sergey Perevoznikov - were taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. Criminal cases were initiated against them for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, in early August 2024, Milinevich and Perevoznikov, along with other Ukrainian servicemen, armed with automatic weapons, anti-tank grenade launchers, and explosive devices, as part of a column of equipment, crossed the state border of Russia and invaded the territory of the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region. They blocked the village of Pogrebki, setting up observation and fire positions in the forest plantations, and held the settlement under armed control. In addition, they "mined roads, repeatedly opened fire on Russian servicemen and civilians, as well as prohibited them from moving and hindered evacuation." On March 6, 2025, the 2nd Western District Military Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Nikolai Milinevich and Sergey Perevoznikov to 16 years of imprisonment, the first 3 years of which they must serve in prison, and the remaining part of the sentence - in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into force.
