Case Description
In the occupied Lugansk region, no later than March 2023, a criminal case was opened against 48-year-old local resident Nikolai Martynyuk for participating in a terrorist community. According to the Russian investigation, Martyniuk, until mid-March 2015, as part of the "Aidar" battalion, performed guard duty at checkpoints, and from May 7 to July 20, 2015, he performed guard duty at the permanent deployment point of the battalion." The court placed the defendant in a pre-trial detention center. On December 5, 2023, Judge of the Southern District Military Court Gurgen Dovlatbekyan sentenced Nikolai Martynuk to 5.5 years in a general regime colony. February 28, 2024, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
