Case Description
On September 25, 2024, in Anadyr, a 36-year-old local resident Nikolai Malkerov was detained. A criminal case was initiated against him for confidential cooperation with a foreign state to the detriment of the Russian Federation. According to the investigation, between April and May 2024, Malkerov sent messages via the Telegram messenger to representatives of the Legion "Freedom of Russia, in which he offered options for his participation in opposing the Russian Federation." In reality, the account in 'Telegram' was controlled by the Russian security forces. The man was escorted to Kostroma, where on September 27, 2024, the court placed Malkerov in a pre-trial detention center. February 14, 2025, the Kostroma Regional Court found Nikolai Malkerov guilty and sentenced him to 4 years of general regime with a 1-year restriction of freedom. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
