Case Description
In Moscow in March 2022, a criminal case was opened for inciting hatred or enmity against Ukrainian journalist Natalya Moseichuk, host of the 1+1 channel. According to the investigation, Moseychuk, during a broadcast on March 20, 2022, compared the residents of Russia and Belarus to dogs and called for violence against Russian military personnel. In July 2023, Moseichuk was put on the wanted list and arrested in absentia. On 31 July 2024, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow found Natalya Mosiychuk guilty and sentenced her in absentia to 5 years in a general regime penal colony. The court also deprived her of the right to engage in activities related to the administration of websites of electronic and information and telecommunications networks, including the Internet, for 2 years. The term of serving the sentence is calculated from the moment of her extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation, or from the moment of her actual detention on the territory of the Russian Federation.
