Case Description
In Bryansk, at the beginning of April 2024, a 15-year-old local resident, Matvey Treshchev, was detained. He was accused of aiding and abetting the preparation of a terrorist act and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. According to the investigation, the teenager allegedly joined the "Freedom of Russia" legion in Telegram, received various assignments from a curator — for example, allegedly photographing bus stops, Lenin Square, and the government building in the city, retrieving a homemade explosive device from a specially equipped cache, and passing it to other individuals to commit a terrorist act on the territory of the Bryansk region." The ninth-grader allegedly "tried to recruit" a classmate into the legion, who likely reported Matvey. The Soviet District Court of Bryansk, at the request of the investigator of the FSB of Russia for the Bryansk region, chose Treshchev a preventive measure in the form of detention.
