Case Description
In August 2022, it became known that criminal cases were opened against Alexei Navalny's associates for spreading knowingly false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and publicly justifying terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was statements made on the air of "Popular Politics. Besides, the head of FBK Maria Pevchikh is accused of organizing the activities of an extremist community using her official position and vandalism. It is unknown exactly what became the reason for the persecution of Pevchykh under the article on vandalism. In December 2023, a case was opened against Navalny under the same article. There are also two supporters of Navalny - Sergei Streknev from Rybinsk and Artemiy Perevozchikov from Izhevsk - who are being tried for vandalism cases. In addition to this, Streckneva is charged with participating in the activities of an extremist organization, and Perevozchikov - with participating in an extremist community. In December 2023, Maria Pevchik was put on the wanted list. In January 2024, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow placed Maria Pechikh under house arrest in absentia. The court ruled to count the term of arrest from the moment of extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation, or from the moment of her detention on the territory of the Russian Federation.
