Case Description

In April 2023, criminal charges of justifying terrorism were brought against Maria Menshikova, the editor of the DOXA magazine. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a mailing of the publication about anti-war actions, to which an illustration was attached with a person throwing a Molotov cocktail at the military registration and enlistment office, as well as calls to write letters to people arrested for arson of military registration and enlistment offices - Russians Denis Serdyukov, Ilya Farber and Dmitry Lyamin, convicted of arson of military registration and enlistment offices, and Belarusians Denis Dikun, Dmitry Ravich and Oleg Molchanov, convicted in Gomel for arson of a relay cabinet at a railway station. Menshikova herself is in Germany. She was put on the wanted list. On April 15, 2024, another case was opened against Menshikova for justifying terrorism. The reason for criminal prosecution was a post published on the DOXA publication's page on July 11, 2022, about railway resistance and partisans in Russia and Belarus. In the opinion of FSB experts, in this post, Menshikov justified terrorist activities. September 30, 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Maria Menshikova guilty and sentenced her in absentia to 7 years in a general regime colony and a 4-year ban on administering internet resources.
