Case Description
In Melitopol, in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region, on July 25, 2024, Marina Meshkova, a 42-year-old Ukrainian citizen with forced Russian citizenship, was detained. A criminal case was opened against her for high treason and aiding terrorist activities.
According to the investigation, Meshkova, while in Melitopol, transferred funds to the account of the organization "Legion 'Freedom of Russia'"—recognized as a terrorist group in the Russian Federation—from December 23, 2023, to April 14, 2024. Additionally, law enforcement established that between January and May 2024, she sent money to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the purchase of weapons and military equipment.
During the investigation, the defendant was placed in custody.
On June 17, 2026, the Southern District Military Court found Marina Meshkova guilty and sentenced her to 14 years in a general-regime correctional colony.
