Case Description
On April 9, 2025, Marat Barashkin, a 36-year-old local resident, was detained in Krasnodar. He was accused of public calls for terrorism and preparation for participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation. According to the investigation, on September 30, 2022, Barashkin posted a call to set fire to the building of the Prosecutor's Office of St. Petersburg, and in March 2025 he entered into correspondence with a representative of the "Freedom of Russia" legion, stating that he wanted to become its participant. During the investigation, the court sent the man into custody. On October 7, 2025, the Southern District Military Court found Marat Baarshkin guilty and sentenced him to 7 years in prison, with the first 2 years to be served in prison and the remaining term in a strict regime correctional colony.
