Case Description
In Mariupol, in the occupied part of the Donetsk region, no later than May 2022, a 34-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a soldier of the Azov regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Maxim Voynikov, fell into captivity of Russian soldiers. A criminal case was opened against him for participating in a terrorist community and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. The reason for the criminal prosecution was service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the nationalist "Azov" battalion, recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. December 30, 2025, the Southern District Military Court found Maxim Voynikov guilty, the size of the punishment is unknown.
