Case Description
In July 2022, in the village of Belaya Berezka in the Bryansk region, near the Ukrainian border, 30-year-old Maxim Timerkhanov was detained. He was accused of planning to participate in an illegal armed formation. According to the investigation, the man planned "to go to Ukraine to participate in hostilities against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation" as part of the "Freedom of Russia" legion. The defendant in the case was placed in the SIZO. On January 18, 2023, the Bryansk Regional Court found Maksim Timerkhanov guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in a strict regime colony." The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
