Case Description
A criminal case was opened in Belgorod against local resident Maksim Serikov. The date of his detention is unknown. He was accused of public calls for terrorist activity and justification of terrorism on the Internet. According to the investigation, Serikov, supporting the ideas of the Legion "Freedom of Russia" organization, due to disagreement with the policy of the Russian authorities and the conduct of the "SVO, published six text comments in the Telegram messenger. In these messages, he called for attacks on the lives of state figures and for joining the ranks of a terrorist organization. There is no information about the measure of restraint. 16 January 2026, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Maxim Serikov guilty and sentenced him to 5 years imprisonment in a general regime penal colony. The court also banned him from administering websites on the internet for 3 years.
