Case Description
Early in March 2025, FSB officers detained 33-year-old local resident Maksim Porotikov in Voronezh. Investigative Department of the FSB of Russia for the Leningrad Military District initiated a criminal case against him for treason for mercenary motives. According to the FSB, in 2024, the man on his own initiative established contact with a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine and through the WhatsApp messenger transmitted information about the activities of a classified military facility." In a video published by the FSB, the detained man says that he sent photographs of the bridge over the Don River, military equipment, warehouse locations, and a journal of "arrivals and departures of aircraft." The court sent the case suspect to the pre-trial detention center.
