Case Description
Juan Alberto Leyva Garcia, a 24-year-old serviceman of the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was taken prisoner by Russian troops in Mariupol in May 2022 during the exit from Azovstal. On August 14, 2024, the marine was released during the next exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine. He was in Russian captivity for more than 3 years.
