According to the Russian investigation, in April 2017, Stremoukhov voluntarily joined the special forces unit "Azov" of the Ukrainian National Guard. On the territory of training bases located in the village of Urzuf of the DNR, he underwent training "for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, acquiring knowledge, practical skills and abilities during classes in physical and psychological training, mastering the rules of handling weapons, explosive devices, and explosives.
