Case Description
On December 12, 2024, in the village of Blagodatnoye in the occupied Donetsk region, 26-year-old Ukrainian citizen Ivan Perepelytsia was taken prisoner by Russian military forces. He was accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. According to the version of Russian law enforcement, in November 2024, while serving his sentence in the Zhytomyr correctional colony, Perepelytsia signed a contract with the 48th Separate Assault Battalion, which is part of the "Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan," where he underwent training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. After that, he "took part in hostilities against the civilian population of the DNR and the military personnel of the Russian Federation." The man was placed in custody. On August 18, 2025, the Southern Military District Court found Ivan Perepelytsia guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
