Case Description
In Mariupol, the occupied part of Donetsk Oblast, no later than April 2022, a 21-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a serviceman of the Azov Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ivan Koziroid, fell into captivity of Russian servicemen. A criminal case was opened against him for participating in a terrorist community and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. The reason for the criminal prosecution was service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the nationalist "Azov" battalion, recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. On February 2, 2026, the Central Military District Court found Ivan Kozirod guilty, the size of the punishment is unknown.
