Case Description
On August 21, 2023, in Kaluga, 35-year-old local resident Igor Safronov was detained. A criminal case was opened against him for attempted state treason, participation in the activities of a terrorist organization, aiding terrorist activities, and attempted terrorist attack, by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. The details of the charges are unknown. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On September 10, 2024, the 2nd Western Military Circuit Court found Igor Safronov guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
