Case Description

According to the Russian investigation, in June 2023, Korchinsky arrived on the territory of the Republic of Crimea and began preparing to carry out a terrorist attack, which he planned to carry out by blowing up the car of the head of the republic. It is claimed that he underwent a "course of training in reconnaissance and sabotage activities on the territory of Ukraine, including training in mine and explosive work." Korchynsky was placed in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. 20 August 2024 the Southern District Military Court found Igor Korchinsky guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in a strict regime penal colony and a fine of 350 thousand. rubles. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force. On May 23, 2025, on the initiative of the FSB, Korchinsky was deprived of his acquired Russian citizenship.
