Case Description
Eco-activist and journalist from Tatarstan Guzel Kasimova was detained in the city of Cherkessk, Stavropol Territory, late in the evening on November 21, 2024. The next day, her friend, also an eco-activist and pensioner Stalin Erlenbakh went to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Cherkessk to file a missing person report for Kasimova, and she was also detained. Both women were accused of knowingly false reporting of a terrorist attack. According to investigators, no later than 20 November 2024, between 9:00 and 14:30, the defendants in the case distributed leaflets containing knowingly false information about planned explosions, arson, or other actions creating a risk of loss of life, with the aim of destabilizing the authorities. On November 24, 2024, the Cherkessk City Court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention against Erlenbakh and Kasimova.
