Case Description
In Domodedovo, Moscow Oblast, no later than May 1, 2024, 24-year-old Ukrainian native Grigory Onishchenko was detained. He was accused of terrorist activities, smuggling and possession of weapons, as well as illegal manufacture of ammunition. According to the investigation, on April 11, 2024, Onishchenko, being on the territory of the city district of Podolsk, carried out photography of the location of the anti-aircraft missile and cannon system of the Aerospace Forces and fixation of geographic coordinates. He then sent the received data via messenger to Ukrainian curators for the military guidance of drones and the destruction of a military facility. In 2017, he allegedly managed to secretly cross the border and hide an automatic weapon near the village of Novye Yurkovichi in the Bryansk region, then return to Ukrainian territory, cross the border officially, retrieve the weapon from the cache, and take it home. In addition, the investigation claims that the defendant decided to join the Legion 'Freedom of Russia,' recognized as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation, and attempted to recruit supporters in Domodedovo. The court sent the young man to a pre-trial detention center. On February 20, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Grigory Onishchenko guilty and sentenced him to 16 years in prison, with the first 3 years of the sentence to be served in prison, and the remainder in a strict regime colony. In addition, he was fined 150 thousand rubles. On July 3, 2025, the Appellate Military Court reduced the punishment by six months.
