Case Description
In the Kursk region on October 22, 2024, during hostilities, a 32-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a soldier of the 17th separate tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Grigory Mikushev, was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, on October 21, 2024, Grigory Mikushev, as part of a unit, armed with an AK-74 assault rifle and grenades, illegally invaded the territory of the Kursk region. He equipped observation and fire positions in the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts, from which he opened fire on Russian military personnel and civilians. Also Mikushev "took part in the blockade of the village of Olgovka in the Korenevsky district, prevented the evacuation of the population and intimidated people with weapons. July 2, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Grigory Mikushev guilty and sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remaining part in a strict regime penal colony.
