Case Description
In late June 2024, a criminal case was opened against 18-year-old local resident Georgiy Tyrkov in the Omsk region on charges of calling for terrorism. According to the investigation, the young man administered certain Ukrainian Telegram channels, 'approved the actions' of the 'Azov' regiment, and called for donations to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The young man was placed in custody for the duration of the investigation. Later, the charges against him were toughened - the article on state treason was added. According to the FSB, the young man supported organizations advocating for the separation of Siberia from Russia and planned to go fight on the side of Ukraine in the future. On November 10, 2025, the 2nd Eastern Military District Court found Georgy Tyrkov guilty and sentenced him to 8.5 years in a general regime colony, as well as a 2-year ban on administering internet resources.
