Case Description
Eugene Telegin was detained in the Bryansk region no later than September 2023 (the exact date is unknown). According to the security forces, Teligin arrived from Moscow to Pogarsky district of the Bryansk region, where he tried to cross the border on foot. The man was accused of attempting to illegally cross the state border of the Russian Federation without proper permission and of attempting state treason. According to the investigation, Telegin, being opposed to the conduct of the SVO, entered into correspondence with recruiters of one of the Ukrainian armed formations with the aim of joining its ranks to participate in hostilities against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. On December 14, 2023, the Bryansk Regional Court found Evgeny Telegin guilty and sentenced him to 9 years and 6 months in a strict regime correctional colony, with a restriction of freedom for 1 year and 6 months. On April 16, 2024, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
