Case Description
In the occupied Lugansk region, no later than August 2024, a 48-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a native of Crimea, soldier of the 24th separate assault battalion "Aydar" Evgeny Shogin was detained. He was accused of participating in a terrorist community. According to the investigation, in June 2014, Shogin voluntarily joined the Ukrainian assault battalion "Aydar", which is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. In the battalion, he performed the duties of a rifleman and took direct part in combat operations on the territory of the Lugansk People's Republic. On September 8, 2025, the Southern Military District Court found Yevgeny Shogin guilty and sentenced him to 16 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
