On February 26, 2025, in the Kursk region, during hostilities, 46-year-old Yevgeny Poltoratsky, a medical shooter of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in grave consequences. ACCORDING TO THE VERSION OF THE RUSSIAN INVESTIGATION, ON FEBRUARY 13, 2025, POLTORATSKIY, ARMED WITH AN AK-74 ASSAULT RIFLE AND GRENADES, AS PART OF A UNIT ON AN ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIER ILLEGALLY INVADED THE TERRITORY OF THE SUZHA DISTRICT OF THE KURSK REGION. He participated in the blockade of the village of Pogrebki, using threats of weapons to prevent the evacuation of civilians and repeatedly opened fire to kill Russian servicemen and local residents. After a mortar shelling in the morning of February 14, he moved to the village and hid in the basement of one of the houses. August 13, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Yevgeny Poltoratsky guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison. For the first 3 years, he must serve his sentence in prison, and the remaining part of the term in a strict regime penal colony.
