Case Description
In the Komi Republic in August 2025, a criminal case was opened for failure to fulfill the obligations of a foreign agent against journalist Elena Solovyova. The formal reason for the criminal prosecution was the untimely submission of reports to the Ministry of Justice. Solovyov was included in the list of "foreign agents" in October 2021. Together with her family, she moved to Canada, where in 2024 she requested political asylum. According to the journalist, after moving to Canada, she stopped submitting reports: Canadian mail did not work with Russia, and she herself did not receive any funds to Russian accounts.
