Case Description
In Kirov, no later than March 2023 (the exact date is unknown), a criminal case was opened against Dmitry Muzakova and Stanislav Obutrov on charges of calling for terrorism and extremism, Obutrov was also accused of financing terrorist activities. According to the version of the security forces, the men, being opponents of the official authorities in Russia and President V.V. They preached the ideas of radical Islam and were supporters of ISIS. Oboturov allegedly transferred money to this terrorist organization." Oboturov himself claims that he is not a supporter of radical Islam. According to him, during the detention, QR codes with links to ISIS terrorist channels were planted on his phones, and an "embedded Muslim" persuaded him to transfer 500 rubles to his acquaintances, and this transfer eventually became an episode in the criminal charge. The court placed both defendants in the case in a pre-trial detention center. On December 12, 2024, the Central Military District Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Stanislav Obutrov to 15 years in a strict regime, including 5 years in prison, and Dmitry Muzakov to 6 years in a general regime. Georgy Galaugin was also involved in the case, and the court ordered him to undergo compulsory inpatient psychiatric treatment. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
