Case Description
Denis Stupak, a 37-year-old local resident, was detained in Bratsk, Irkutsk Oblast, in September 2024. He was accused of public calls for terrorism. The details of the charges are unknown. According to Denis himself, the reason for the criminal case was his "political activity" - the fact that he "did not agree with the line of the leadership of the Russian Federation regarding the conduct of certain measures." According to Stupak, some of the comments were written not by him, but 'somehow from his number', but he could not prove it. On September 14, 2024, the Bratsky District Court of the Irkutsk Region denied the investigation's motion to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention. It is unknown what measure the court has chosen. On May 14, 2025, the 2nd Eastern Military District Court found Denis Stupak guilty and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
