Case Description
Denis Popov, a resident of Uglich, was detained in the summer of 2022. According to law enforcement, this occurred during an attempted arson of a military enlistment office. Denis was accused of "attempting to commit a terrorist act" as well as "calls for extremist activity" - allegedly due to messages he posted on social networks. The comment read out in court, 'Pae Edrosy,' the court interpreted as an expression of hatred or hostility towards the social group of edros. On February 28, 2023, the 2nd Western Military District Court sentenced Denis Popov to 8 years in prison - 3 years in prison and 5 in a strict regime colony.
