Case Description
On July 30, 2023, in Nizhny Novgorod, at the exit from the city, 39-year-old driver Daniil Senko was detained. Later, the Nizhny Novgorod resident reported that the detention was harsh, and he was only able to recover after a month and a half. A criminal case was opened against Senko on charges of attempted state treason and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization. According to the security forces, Senko, 'being a supporter of pro-Ukrainian views and an opponent of the special military operation conducted by the Russian Armed Forces, decided to join the LRS.' Daniel wrote in a letter from the pre-trial detention center that he had experienced "various methods and approaches, but remained of the same opinion and did not recognize the charges brought against him. On September 16, 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Daniil Sinko guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison. The first four years he must spend in prison, the remaining eight years - in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
