In the Kursk region on September 28, 2024, during hostilities, a 38-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a soldier of the 41st separate mechanized brigade of the AFU Boris Dombek, was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. He was accused of committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in grave consequences. According to the investigation, in September 2024, Dombék, armed with combat weapons, as part of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, illegally crossed the state border of the Russian Federation. While in the village of Zhuravli in the Korenevsky District of the Kursk Region, Dombec, under the threat of using weapons, prevented the evacuation of the civilian population, occupied private houses, and repeatedly opened fire to kill Russian military personnel and peaceful civilians. On March 20, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Boris Dombek guilty and sentenced him to 16 years in prison, with the first 4 years to be served in prison and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
