Case Description
In St. Petersburg on February 10, 2024, an unknown person, while on the stretch between the railway stations "Sergiyevo-Streshnevo" of the Petrodvortsovy district of the city, set fire to a relay cabinet. Two weeks later, 21-year-old Bogdan Bondarev, a native of the Kemerovo region, was detained on charges of arson. He was accused of committing a terrorist act. The detained man allegedly told security forces that using a messenger he was in contact with representatives of the "Freedom of Russia" legion and at their request monitored the work of military-industrial complex enterprises - in particular, the "Nevsky Mazut" plant, on the territory of which a drone crashed at the end of January." During the search, security forces found 16 agitation leaflets at Bondarev's place, where the President of the Russian Federation was portrayed negatively. The young man allegedly planned to paste them around the city during the election campaign. On February 29, 2024, the Petrodvoretsky District Court of St. Petersburg issued a ruling to choose Bondarev's measure of restraint in the form of detention. On May 14, 2025, the 1st Western Military District Court found Bogdan Bondarev guilty, the amount of punishment is unknown. On August 8, 2025, the Appellate Military Court upheld the sentence.
