Case Description
In the Kursk region on April 19, 2025, during hostilities, 27-year-old shooter of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Bogdan Bodak was taken prisoner by Russian servicemen. He was accused of committing a terrorist act that resulted in serious consequences, as part of a group of persons by prior conspiracy. According to the Russian investigation, on the night of April 16, 2025, Bodak, armed with an AK-74 assault rifle with ammunition and two hand grenades, along with other servicemen of his unit, illegally crossed the Russian state border in the Sudzhansky district. He proceeded towards the village of Oleshnya with the aim of blocking and holding it. Together with his comrades, Bodak held observation and fire positions, opposed Russian troops, intimidated the civilian population, prohibited evacuation, and participated in the disorganization of government bodies' activities. Before the verdict, Bogdan Bodak was held in custody. On October 9, 2025, the 2nd Western District Military Court found Bogdan Bodak guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remainder in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
