Case Description
In early July 2022, a 27-year-old resident of Tambov, Artem Skakalin, was detained in the Bryansk region. According to the investigation, he planned to cross the Ukrainian border to take part in armed actions on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The man was sent to a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. On October 20, 2022, the Bryansk Regional Court found Artem Skakalina guilty and sentenced him to 7 years in a strict regime colony, with the first 2 years to be served in prison. On February 20, 2023, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction upheld the verdict.
