Case Description
In Mariupol, in the occupied part of the Donetsk region, no later than April 2022, 24-year-old Artem Moroz, a sniper from the Ukrainian nationalist Azov battalion, fell into the hands of Russian soldiers. He was accused of murdering two people committed by an organized group on the grounds of political and ideological hatred, as well as of cruel treatment of the civilian population. According to the investigation, on March 11, 2022, Moroz, while on a combat position in an apartment at house No. 79 on Olimpiyskaya Street in Mariupol, on the orders of the command, opened fire from a rifle at two civilian men, who died on the spot from their wounds. July 15, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found Artem Moroz guilty and sentenced him to 24 years in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
