Case Description
In the Luhansk region in May 2022, a criminal case was opened for the use of prohibited means and methods in an armed conflict and the murder of a 47-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a soldier of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Artem Bublik. The exact date of the case being opened, as well as the date of the serviceman's capture, are unknown. According to the Russian investigation, on May 5, 2022, Bublik went from the wagon depot to the center of the city of Popasnaya. On the way, he saw a one-story residential house, and upon approaching it, noticed a woman on the porch. In the neighboring window, he saw the silhouette of another person and, with the aim of intimidating the peaceful residents living in the specified house, being at a distance of about 10 meters from the house, he fired at least 6 shots from an AK-74 assault rifle into the windows of the neighboring room where the person was located. The man died from his wounds. No later than March 28, 2023, the Supreme Court of the Luhansk People's Republic found Artem Bublik guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison to be served in a strict regime colony. There is no information about appealing the verdict.
