Case Description
In the Kursk region on December 1, 2024, during combat operations, 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen, soldier of the 115th Separate Mechanized Brigade (military unit A-0453) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Arthur Blambers, was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, on November 30, 2024, Blamberus, along with his comrades-in-arms, having an AK-74 assault rifle and grenades with him, illegally crossed the state border of Russia in the Kursk region. He arrived at a plot of land near the village of Darino in the Sudzhansky district and began forming and fortifying observation and fire positions to hold the territory under armed control. On July 31, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Arthur Blamberus guilty and sentenced him to 14 years in prison. He must serve the first 4 years of his sentence in prison, and the remainder in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
