Case Description
Anton Sychev, a 35-year-old native of Belgorod, was detained in Moscow in July 2024. He was accused of "public calls for terrorist activity, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism" on the Internet. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a repost of a video from the Telegram channel of the "Freedom of Russia" legion, made on February 15, 2024. The man said that he condemns the raids of the participants of "Freedom of Russia" on the Belgorod region and wanted to inform people about these events. July 11, 2024, the court sent Sychev into custody. Earlier, Sychev had already been fined 40 thousand for a comment he left in the chat of the Telegram channel 'Bedgorod'. The 2nd Western District Court found Anton Sychev guilty and sentenced him to 2 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. The date of the verdict is unknown. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
