Case Description
In Mariupol, occupied Donetsk region, on 'Azovstal' on May 20, 2022, a 34-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a serviceman of the 12th Operational Purpose Brigade of the National Guard named after Dmitry Vishnevsky Anton Saihiev. A criminal case was initiated against him for participating in the activities of a terrorist community and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. The reason for the criminal prosecution was service in the Ukrainian army, in the "Azov" regiment. Anton Saihiev was found guilty by the Southern Military Court on November 27, 2024, and sentenced to 18 years in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
