Case Description
17 November 2024 in the Kursk region, 53-year-old Ukrainian citizen Anton Frolkin, a soldier of the 17th Separate Tank Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fell into captivity with Russian military personnel. He was accused of committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in grave consequences. According to the Russian investigation, in November 2024, Frolkin, armed with an AK-74 assault rifle, as part of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, illegally invaded the territory of the Russian Federation. While in the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts of the Kursk region, Frolkin "intimidated local residents, hindered their evacuation, repeatedly opened fire on Russian military personnel and civilians, and also participated in the illegal armed blockade of the village of Olgovka. On May 15, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Anton Frolkin guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in a prison, and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and came into force.
