Case Description
In Ulan-Ude, no later than July 2025, criminal charges were brought in absentia against a 38-year-old local resident, journalist Anna Zueva. She was accused of publicly justifying terrorism and evading the obligations of a foreign agent. According to the investigation, on June 2, 2025, Zueva published a video recording on her Telegram and YouTube channels about a terrorist attack committed on June 1, 2025, on the territory of an aviation regiment in the Irkutsk region. She accompanied the video with comments approving and justifying the attack. Additionally, Zueva, who was recognized as a foreign agent in October 2024 and twice in 2025 was held administratively liable for violating the order of activity of a foreign agent, posted materials on her channels without the appropriate labeling from April to June 2025. In 2023, the journalist left Russia. She was placed on the wanted list. On December 18, 2025, the 2nd Eastern Military District Court found Anna Zueva guilty in absentia and sentenced her to 6 years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime penal colony. The court also prohibited her from engaging in activities related to administering websites and channels for 3 years.
