Case Description
On April 19, 2024, a search was conducted at the home of Fontanka journalist Andrey Zakharov in St. Petersburg. He was accused of evading the performance of duties as a 'foreign agent'. According to the investigation, the journalist continued to post publications on the Internet without the "foreign agent" label, despite fines. The criminal case was opened specifically due to posts from March 6 and 13 on his Telegram channel - they announced the "Wiretapping" stream. In 2023, Zakharova was twice brought to administrative responsibility for distributing materials without the label of a 'foreign agent'. As part of the same case, a search was conducted at the home of journalist Ksenia Klochkova of Fontanka and Rotonda. She is a witness in the case. Zakharov is outside of Russia. In July 2024, the journalist was put on the wanted list.
